How soon can the Expedition take place?
This depends on several factors. We have some cases that are based on dates. This means that the participant could leave quickly after the sign-up. Some cases we prefer to fill in during the local low-season. Some of the cases have no starting date, because they are repeatable. This means that the particpant has the opportunity to propose his or her own departure date.

 

Can I go on Expedition alone?

Yes, of course. Before your departure you will be very well prepared. GreenDreamCompany also has local agents working on this programme. They will be your back-up at your destination.

 

I would like to join a group, is that possible?

Yes, this is possible. Together-4-Better Expedition can be a tailor-made incompany programme. It is also possibles for participants to join open groups up to 4 participants. However, it could be that arranging group cases might take us more time.

 

There is no right case for me on the list. But I would like to go on an Expedition. What's next?

This is not a problem. There is a two-way approach regarding the expeditions. We can discuss your request and find a case that suits you.

 

How does Together-4-Expedition differs from volunteer work?
Together-4-Better Expedition is an executive program existing out of special selected cases. Dutch and African professionals are working together to come up with a solid, structural solution for an occurring problem within a tourism-related organization. Measures will be taken in order to benefit the organization in a sustainable matter and on the longer term. The key is to support the organization in a way it improves its economic prospective by decreasing its negative social and environmental impact by turning this into a positive impact and enhancing local livelihoods.

Is it safe to go to Ethiopia?

Yes, very much so. Ethiopia is a fast developing country and politically stable. The people of Ethiopia are very hospitable.

 

Do I need to get vaccinated before I leave?

We would advise you to do so. The GGD can advise you on your recent status. Most insurance companies will cover the costs of vaccinations.

 

Do I need a Visa?

Yes, you can arrange a visa at the Embassy. If wanted, you can ask us for the address. Most countries also offer possibilities for arranging your visa directly after arriving at the international airport.

 

African entrepreneurs and organisations

Is the programme freely accesible?

Though we do not ask you for payment in monetary terms, the programme does ask a contribution from you. We ask you to take care of the hospitality and local transport for your participating professional.

We also ask you to allow your own professionals to work together, at the same time, with our Together-4-Better Expedition expert.  Also, but that is already in your African nature, we ask you to be a good host.

 

Will my African staff receive a training program in a classroom?

The program does not take place in class but on site. Your professionals will work together with a Dutch expert on knowledge exchange at your tourism entreprise or organisation. The focus is vocational. We believe that this will give the best results. Learning today, practice tomorrow. It is a win-win situation.

 

Why is it so interesting for a Dutch expert to receive working experience here? What can he/she learn?

There is a lot that can be learned from your country and your company or organisation.The Dutch society is multi-cultural. A lot of professionals like to learn more about other cultures. Not only as tourists, but also in the working field. Sometimes their company would their employees to have an experience in a completely different situation than they are used to, as part of their professional education. So it is part of their skills and competence training. It could also be that the company is interested in investing in Africa. In The Netherlands many companies like to contribute to sustainability or for a better world. Not by giving money, but by sharing their knowledge. Together-4-Better Expedition can give them a real-life experience.

 

Will my African company and my African professionals receive a certificate?

Your tourism enterprise or organisation will receive a certificate of partnership to the programme Together-4-Better Expedition as soon as the contract is signed and after the first Expedition has taken place. Your own African professional will also receive a personal certificate for joining the programme Together-4-Better Expedition based on the field of the joined case, when the Expedition ends.
