News: Alliance with Trees for Travel

Trees for Travel is an organisation that compensates greenhouse gas emissions with contributions of travelling persons. They do this by supporting sustainable forestry along with energy projects in developing countries. With this alliance GreenDreamCompany is able to travel greener and therefore also contribute to a greener future with Trees for Travel.

 

Travelling with climate care?

Airplanes and other transportation methods produce greenhouse gasses. Trees for Travel takes care of the plantation and recovery of forests and invests in sustainable energy to compensate the harmful effects of trips. The trees absorb the gas CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) while sustainable energy prevents further emission of Carbon Dioxide. Their projects contribute to the social-economic development of the local population. This also reduces erosion, enlarges the biodiversity and improves the water quality. Thousands of tourists, employees of organisations, ministries and development organisations travel climate neutral in this manner.

 

Trees for Travel is a self-employed, independent foundation without pecuniary reward, as well as a registered charity.  They are one of the few Dutch organisations who are able to use the vignette of Klimaatcompensatie.nl (climate compensation). This means that their procedures are assessed by an independent organisation yearly. In this manner, forests and bushes have been planted, recovered or protected in Malaysia, Mali, The Philippines and Bolivia. The local population benefits of the nature recovery, the produces out of the forest and the job opportunities. The nature benefits of more space for the sometimes endangered species and plants.

 

Trees for Travel has a project in which Jatropha bushes are planted in Mali. The cooperation between GreenDreamCompany and Trees for Travel benefits this project, as the business flights of GreenDreamCompany are compensated for their Carbon Dioxide Footprint.
