Evaluation use of Heritage buildings
Evaluation for future use of heritage building for National Park "Hoge Kempen" in Belgium

History that needs a new future
Hoge Kempen is a nature reserve in Belgium. Special to this, recently declared, National Nature Reserve is the presence of its three heritage buildings. Buildings that reflect the past use of the area such as military airfield, sanatorium and mining industry. Buildings that need a new future to preserve them for future generations.
But how to do this?
National Park "Hoge Kempen" asked GreenDreamCompany to evaluate the future use and possibilities of these three buildings within the park.
GreenDreamCompany performed the analysis using the special Quickscan method for Cultural Heritage sites. This method measures 8 elements and their interacting relation to come to a conclusion.
For each building this is presented in diagrams with four dimension indicating:
- Functional value as opposed to cultural heritage value
- The value of the physical building as opposed to its surroundings
- Public support as opposed to touristic / recreational value
- Financial feasibility as opposed to organizational possibilities
Based on these results the park now has a clear view what they can do with these buildings.
Johan Van Den Bosch, Projectleader Nationaal Park "Hoge Kempen"- Belgium said:
"What has struck us most in the cooperation with GreenDreamCompany is the personal and dedicated approach, together with a very strong and clear methodology.
This has given us clear and fast answers to our complex questions."
