Sustainability

For each project, GreenDreamCompany looks for the right balance between social and commercial interests. Constantly led by the thought of finding a sound and sustainable approach, with a positive outcome for society, GreenDreamCompany greatly values the notion of sustainable development. As stated by Gro Harlem Brundtland in the Report of the Brundtland Commission, Our Common Future, 1987:

 

"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

 

GreenDreamCompany continually considers its impact on the environment and aims to increase our positive and reduce our negative impact.  This can be seen in all assets ranging from the projects in Africa and Europe to the way the office has been renovated.

 

One of the main reasons GreenDreamCompany has a special place for projects related to tourism in emerging markets is the fact that tourism is listed in the top 5 of sectors that contribute to the reduction of (world) poverty. Poverty reduction has been stated as one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and GreenDreamCompany is dedicated to contribute to this development. Besides this, other MDGs are also at place, namely gender equality, environmental sustainability and global partnership. Every effort is made to contribute to these developments. Therefore GreenDreamCompany focusses upon the  "triptych" of sustainability referring to the ecological, economical and social impact of their business.

 

Trees for Travel

Trees for Travel is a private foundation and registered charity. They have been active in the establishment of sustainable forestry projects in developing countries since 2001. They raise the necessary funds by offering individuals, companies, governments and other bodies the means to compensate for the consumption of fossil fuels during travelling and other activities. GreenDreamCompany supports this foundation and compensates their flights and stimulates their clients to do so as well at Trees for Travel.
